Star defender celebrates milestone
Star East Gambier defender Bo Creek has called McDonald Park home for 21 years, playing 18 of those seasons in A Grade.
On July 20, Bo celebrated her 300th appearance for the Bulldogs and not surprisingly she was best on court in her team’s hard fought four goal victory over Casterton Sandford.
Bo started at East Gambier in the 17 & Under age group making her A Grade debut in 2004.
Her crowning achievement is the 2021 A Grade premiership – a victory she played a key role in, especially her game changing interception near the end of regular time to allow East to square up the scoreboard and force the title decider into overtime when they broke their more than three decade premiership drought.
Bo has been a regular member of the Western Border Team of the Year and rarely a week goes by where she is named in her side’s best.
Her athleticism causes headaches for opposition teams. She has speed onto the ball and a vertical leap that has to be seen to be believed.
Her ability to read the play and take spectacular interceptions, as well as her commitment to tight checking her opponent and denying time and space makes her one of the most feared and respected circle defenders in the competition.
Over the years Bo has formed some beautiful friendships, coached both senior and junior teams, been a committee member and a premiership player.
