Once again the weather gods presented another rain free day interspersed with sunshine accompanied by a bit of gusty wind at the Blue Lake Golf Club.

The 4th round of the Marlene Lingham Memorial Stableford Trophy sponsored by the Blue Lake Bar and Bistro attracted a smaller number of women than usual with quite a few still holidaying overseas.

The Blue Lake Golf Course has been holding up well through the winter months with lots of run still on the fairways and the score of the day came from the women’s handicapper Dianne Perryman winning the top prize voucher for Division One after signing for 37 points off her 20 handicap.

Included in her outward 18 points Perryman had pars on the 2nd, 5th and 9th turning to score 19 points that saw pars on the 12th, 14th and 15th holes with only one wipe on the 7th.

Runner up was Helen Stratford with 33 points off a 22 handicap and included pars on the 2nd, 12th and 15th holes, a wipe on the 13th in her splits of 18/15.

Third on the podium after a countback with Cherryl Hill after both signing for 31 points was Rosemary Martland.

Martland had splits of 12/19 that included a birdie four-pointer on the 12th and pars on the 14th, 15th and 16th holes.

Division Two winner was Fiona Pulford signing for 28 points. Pulford faced a countback with Lesley McPherson also 28 points and it was Pulford’s better inward nine of 17 points to Mcpherson’s 12 points clinching the top spot.

Pulford is off a 35 handicap and did par the 5th along with five three-pointers. McPherson off 34 had four three-pointers.

Taking the 3rd place voucher was Bev Pascoe after a three-way countback from Beryl Mahoney and Dianne Allen all posting 27points. Pascoe is off a 33 handicap and had splits of 12/15.

Nearest to the pin 2nd shot on the 16th winners were Jaynee Oberer (2.10) and McPherson (3.10). Oberer was the pro-shot winner on the 5th (5.20). Martland had a birdie on the 12th and Stratford had a chip-in ferret on the 12th.

AUGUST 17 RESULTS

Kate Hommelhoff posted an impressive score of 41 points in the stableford competition making it back-to-back wins from the previous Saturday.

The course played a little heavier than of late but Hommelhoff showed how it’s done playing five strokes under her 30 handicap and eight strokes clear of her nearest opposition.

Her outward nine of 22 points included four-pointers on the first and third holes followed by four three-pointers.

Her inward nine 19 points had another four three-pointers as well as a four-pointer on the par five 17th hole.

Dianne Perryman claimed the runner-up voucher with 33 points off her 19 handicap. In her splits of 15/18 there was one three-pointer, two one-pointers and one wipe all the remaining holes earning two points each.

Third place went to Cherryl Hill after a countback with Helen Stratford as both signed for 31 points.

Playing off a 25 handicap, Hill had 11 points on the outward nine after a run of bogies and was able to minimise the damage posting 20 points on the inward nine.

Stratford was in the ball rundown along with Rosemary Martland 30 points and Karen Panagopoulos 28.

The best back nine was Hommelhoff and nearest to the pin winner was Martland.
