Van Ritjhoven continues rich vein of form

THE final round of the Summer Salver sponsored by life member Isobel Phillips occurred at the Mount Gambier Golf Club on February 19 on a fine but windy day.

Forty-one ladies competed plus another 10 ladies opted to play the more forgiving stableford event.

In Division 1, two outstanding scores were recorded with Jennifer Van Rijthoven (handicap 10) claiming the winner’s podium with 41/39=80 off the stick, nett 70.

Playing 3 under her handicap Jennifer had two birdies on the 1st and 18th holes and added seven pars to her card.

Second placing went to Leanne Hunt (handicap 10) with another notable score of 39/42=81 off the stick, nett 71, and included in Leanne’s great score were 10 pars.

Division 2 saw some low scoring recorded and the winner of that division went to Libby Altschwager (handicap 27) with a split of 49 front nine and 48 back nine = 97 off the stick, nett 71.

Libby played very consistent golf with pars on the 6th and 12th holes.

Long standing member Maxine McGregor (handicap 32) came in in second placing for Division 2 with a split of 51/52=103 off the stick, nett 71.

Consistency played a big part in Maxine’s score.

Because of the large field 12 balls were handed out to Ros Hunt (square) down to Helen Gregory nett 77.

Lyndal McInerney is becoming the specialist to once again take out the Pro Shot on the Par 3, 8th hole earning herself three balls.

2nd shot on the 16th, Par 3 Hole went to – A Grade – Carol Davis and B Grade – Carol Smith.

Sue McPherson headed the 10 players who competed in the stableford event playing to her handicap registering 36 points.

The exodus of players to the Southern Ports Golf Week will see fields smaller in the coming week.

FEBRUARY 22 RESULTS

Due to the very hot conditions the Hot Weather Policy came into play with no-one competing on the Course after 9a.m.

Only eight ladies opted to play and Josie Ashby from the Blue Lake Golf Course (handicap 21) took out the event for the day with 16/18=34 Points.

Josie sealed the win with a birdie on the last hole.

Coming in second placing on a countback was the in-form player Sue McPherson (handicap 38) also with 34 points.

Sue’s scorecard showed a split of 20/14=34 points.

Two balls were won by Penne Saffin and Leanne Hunt in the ball rundown.

Pro Shot on the 8th Par 3 Hole went to Jess Parsons and NTP on the 16th Par 3 Hole – Penne Saffin.
