Wild conditions for vets golf
ON March 31, the South East Golf Veterans had a record number of players at Naracoorte, 94 in all, on a windy fine day.
Nine players came from the Glenelg veterans who enjoy the South East events.
The course was great but the best scores were only 36 points.
First Division was decided by a threeway countback on 36. Roy McCallum, Casterton won from Robe’s Gordie Fleming and Peter Novotny, of Dartmoor.
The second Division went to President Glen Tilley of Millicent with 36 also, from Millicent’s Robert ‘Tank’ Thompson with 34, and third was Blue Lake’s Alex Juokoff 33.
The NTPs were Glen Tilley, Lindsay Storer, and Russell Lewis and the Ross Orchard trophy was grabbed by John Fenwick and Trevor Hutchesson, who has just been awarded Life Membership of Millicent Golf Club.
The ball rundown was to 29 points or better.
The South East veterans have an invite to Portland next Monday, April 7, for a Glenelg veterans day.
The next game is at Bordertown on April 14 followed by the annual Getaway week on April 27 then back to normal on May 5 at Beachport.
