Division Two winner smashes rating while consistency was the key to Division One victory

In warm but gusty conditions the 25 women at the Blue Lake Golf Club enjoyed the sunshine and back to lots of run on the fairways. The scores posted were indicative of this with six of the top scores below the scratch rating of 71.

The top nett score of the day, nett 67 along with bragging rights, came from Division Two’s Vivienne Wilson, five strokes under said scratch rating.

In Division One Annette Ford 95/26/69 and Ronda Edwards 85/16/69 headed to a countback with the former taking top spot having the better back nine handicap score. Ford had splits of 49/46 and even though there were no pars recorded on her scorecard she had even par on the outward nine and two strokes under on the inward nine good enough for the win.

Edwards would have been pleased with her consistency with splits of 42/43 that included pars on the 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 9th on the outward nine coming home with pars on the 12th, 14th, 17th and a birdie three on the dog-leg 15th. Handicapper Dianne Perryman signed for 91/21/70 with splits of 46/45 and pars on the 1st, 2nd, 11th along with a birdie two on the par three 14th.

As well as score of the day, Vivienne Wilson added to her prizes topping division two signing for 104/37/67 showing consistency does pay backing up the previous week’s win and she has been in the winner’s circle also some Saturdays. Splits of 52/52 , including a par on the downhill par three 5th cemented her first on the podium.

Lynda Nannings also handed in a good scorecard showing 99/30/69. Her 49 strokes on the outward nine included pars on the 2nd and 9th and 50 strokes on the inward nine with a par on the 11th got her into second spot ahead of third place-getter Lyn Annand 105/34/71 after she had splits of 54/51 that included pars on the 2nd, 11th and 14th holes.

Nearest to the pin 2nd shot on the par three 2nd winner’s were Dianne Perryman (Div 1) and Lucy Richards (Div 2). The pro shot winner on the 5th was Trudy Herbert. Birdie prizes awarded to Perryman 14th and Edwards 15th. Perryman, Nannings and Bev Pascoe had chip-in ferrets and the accurate fairway drives well deserved winner was Herbert (18). This week is a stableford competition.
