Double delight
The Mount Gambier Library is thrilled to be hosting two bestselling authors, Jennifer Mackenzie Dunbar and Mount Gambier based Kim Lock, this Wednesday at 7pm.
Mount Gambier Library team leader library programs Kristi Brooks said this was an in-conversation event with Jennifer (above left) and Kim (above right) taking the lead in interviewing each other.
“The audience will be thoroughly entertained as they discuss writing, research, inspirations, and their latest books,” Kristi said.
Jennifer’s writing draws on her love of history, music, and mythology as she explores the stories left untold in conventional historical accounts.
Her latest historical novel Missing Pieces is inspired by the 1831 discovery of a hoard of priceless chess pieces on a remote Scottish Island. It tells the story of four women who created and protected the now famous artefacts.
Locally based Kim is an internationally published author of five novels and her essays and opinion pieces on writing, feminism and motherhood have been published widely, including in The Guardian and The Sydney Morning Herald.
Her latest page turner, The Fancies, is based in a crayfishing town where everyone knows everyone and a surprise arrival forces a family and entire town to unpack a 24-year-old secret that has rocked this tiny place to its core.
Books will be available for sale and signing, and both authors will be happy to answer any questions from the audience.
This a free event with bookings available by contacting the Mount Gambier Library on (08)8721 2540 or online at www.mountgambier.sa.gov.au/library under ‘Programs and Events’.
