Former Limestone Coast footballers taking significant leadership roles continued this week with former Millicent local Sarah Allan named co-captain of the Adelaide Crows AFLW team, joining Robe\u2019s Jordan Dawson, who has the top job in the men\u2019s program.<\/p>\n
The three-time premiership defender has been elevated to the top role alongside Ebony Marinoff after receiving strong support in a player vote, with the appointments then formally endorsed by the club\u2019s Board of Directors and senior management.<\/p>\n
Allan, who has previously served as vice-captain, has played 69 games and earnt All-Australian selection on three occasions, while Marinoff is a two-time Club Champion, six time All-Australian and Adelaide\u2019s games record holder with 79 appearances.<\/p>\n
And the Limestone Coast flavour doesn\u2019t stop there with Sarah\u2019s sister Jess having also been named in the new-look leadership group<\/p>\n
Crows AFLW senior coach Matthew Clarke, another of the club\u2019s Limestone Coast connections, was confident Allan and Marinoff will flourish in the role.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s fantastic to be in the position where we have two deserved co-captains in Sarah and Ebony, who will help lead and drive the group,\u201d Clarke said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are proven high performing individuals who have the respect of their teammates and opposition.<\/p>\n
\u201cBoth Sarah and Ebony have skills, qualities and personalities that complement each other, and we believe they will bring out the best in one another and the team.\u201d<\/p>\n
Allan said it was an honour to be named co-captain alongside Marinoff.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s such a privilege to have the opportunity to lead this team and to have received the support of the playing group and the Club\u2019s administration,\u201d Allan said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEbony and I went through the talent pathway system and got drafted together so it will be great to have her by my side, as well as the rest of the leadership group who all want to continue to learn and grow together.<\/p>\n
