{"id":10177,"date":"2024-08-04T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-08-03T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=10177"},"modified":"2024-07-31T15:16:06","modified_gmt":"2024-07-31T05:16:06","slug":"mount-gambier-set-to-ring-in-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/news\/mount-gambier-set-to-ring-in-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Mount Gambier set to ring in 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New Year\u2019s Eve community celebrations will return to the Mount Gambier calendar this year thanks to the efforts of a reinvigorated Mount Gambier Community Events Management Inc committee.<\/p>\n<p>Fireworks will once again grace the Mount Gambier skies on December 31 as the event, to be held at the Mount Gambier Showgrounds, after a lack of volunteers saw the cancellation of the 2023 event.<\/p>\n<p>The family-friendly event will run from 6pm to midnight with fireworks displays at 9pm and midnight.<\/p>\n<p>The event will also include activities for all ages, including live performances, attractions and local mobile caterers.<\/p>\n<p>The entry fee will cover all entertainment and activity outside of the onsite catering.<\/p>\n<p>Committee president Ross Muir was thrilled to be able to confirm the return of the popular celebration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew Year\u2019s Eve is an event which connects a community across cultures and religions,\u201d Mt Moir said. \u201cEvents like these are the social side of society and important parts of the community calendar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe committee is still very new to this and learning as we go, but the event is coming together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re still looking for sponsors and exploring grant opportunities in the new financial year, but in the meantime we\u2019re fundraising directly through events, like our recent Christmas in July Karaoke at Metro and barbecues at Bunnings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The committee will also be earning community support with bingo at the RSL on September 13 and more Bunnings barbecues over the October long weekend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt an upcoming meeting we will be reviewing our entertainment lineup, so if you\u2019re a local entertainer interested in joining in, get in touch,\u201d Mr Moir said. \u201cWe\u2019ve already got a couple, but we would love to be able to provide a range of entertainment, so if you can provide a sample of your work and contact info, we\u2019d love to consider you.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe committee is grateful for the financial support we have received so far.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Community Bank Mount Gambier &amp; District; the South Australian Government, as well as other sponsors, including Kimberly-Clark, Equipt Mobility, Tony Pasin MP, WIN TV, the City of Mount Gambier and the District Council of Grant, have already dug deep to providing funding for the<\/p>\n<p>The Mount Gambier Zombie Walk has also chosen to support the New Year\u2019s Eve event this year.<\/p>\n<p>The committee is also looking for expressions of interest from any volunteers who wish to help during the event itself, especially helping prepare and pack up.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, contact the committee at <a href=\"mailto:communityeventsmg@gmail.com\">communityeventsmg@gmail.com<\/a> or check out the Facebook page.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Year\u2019s Eve community celebrations will return to the Mount Gambier calendar this year thanks to the efforts of a reinvigorated Mount Gambier Community Events Management Inc committee.
