Portland Aluminium is pleased to announce the extension of its successful partnership with United Way Glenelg\u2019s early Literacy program Dolly Parton\u2019s Imagination Library, celebrating a significant milestone of 50,000 books delivered to children in the Glenelg Shire community this October.<\/p>\n
Since the launch of the program in 2013, the Imagination Library has made a profound impact on early childhood literacy, providing free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five.<\/p>\n
This initiative has been instrumental in fostering a love of reading, improving literacy rates, and supporting the educational development of young children in the region.<\/p>\n
United Way Glenelg executive officer Nicole Carr shared her gratitude for Portland Aluminium\u2019s continued support.<\/p>\n
\u201cReaching 50,000 books is a testament to the dedication and generosity of Portland Aluminium,\u201d she said. \u201cTheir ongoing commitment ensures that our children have the resources they need to thrive.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs part of the renewed partnership, there will be a heightened focus on supporting rural and remote communities in the shire particularly those families that find it difficult to access books regularly, as well as Indigenous children, to enrol in the program.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe focus aims to bridge the gap in early years resources and provide equitable access to books for all children, regardless of their geographic or socio-economic circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n
Senior community relations and communications advisor Anna Impey said Portland Aluminium\u2019s commitment to the community aligned with their broader corporate social responsibility goals, emphasising the importance of education and community wellbeing.<\/p>\n
