{"id":10332,"date":"2024-08-13T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-08-12T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/uncategorized\/time-to-pay-up-for-your-pets\/"},"modified":"2024-08-13T08:57:02","modified_gmt":"2024-08-12T22:57:02","slug":"time-to-pay-up-for-your-pets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/news\/time-to-pay-up-for-your-pets\/","title":{"rendered":"Time to pay up for your pets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South Australian dog and cat owners have just one more month to renew registrations for their beloved pets.<\/p>\n<p>Local councils have issued annual registration renewal notices via text, post or email for about 423,000 dogs and cats across the state.<\/p>\n<p>Owners have until August 31 to complete the renewals in the state-wide register, Dogs and Cats Online, and pay any associated fees &#8211; or risk possible late fees.<\/p>\n<p>More than a third of the dogs and cats registered in SA have already been renewed, including a record of 100,000 within the first 2 weeks after renewals opened on July 1.<\/p>\n<p>In South Australia, all dogs and cats must be desexed, microchipped and registered.<\/p>\n<p>Dog and Cat Management Board chairman David Parkin said it was important that owners took the time to register their pets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is encouraging that many owners have been so quick to renew registrations, but there are still plenty more to go,\u201d Mr Parkin said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnnual renewals are a great time to check that your pet\u2019s microchip details are updated with the correct contact details.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor cats specifically, shelters have reported that 97% of cats can\u2019t be returned because owners have not registered a microchip in Dogs and Cats Online and kept information up to date.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For assistance to register your dog or cat, please contact your local council.<\/p>\n<p>The Board\u2019s website has information on the state dog and cat laws, along with a host of tips for potential and current owners.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dogandcatboard.com.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.dogandcatboard.com.au<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>South Australian dog and cat owners have just one more month to renew registrations for their beloved pets.
