Naracoorte Lucindale Council CEO Trevor Smart has formally announced his retirement after more than 40 years in public service.<\/p>\n
Mr Smart tendered his resignation to Mayor Patrick Ross at the end of last month and will retire at the end of February next year.<\/p>\n
Mr Smart started his local government career in 1980 with the District Council of Kimba and following more than four decades of service across various councils and communities, he has decided to retire and take time out to enjoy personal pursuits.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have thoroughly enjoyed my time in local government, and in particular, regional councils,\u201d Mr Smart said in his formal letter of resignation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe opportunity provided to me over time to assist councils and communities to attain their aspirations, to develop myself as a professional, and to lead the many valued council teams has been highly rewarding and valued.<\/p>\n
\u201cHaving served as CEO of Naracoorte Lucindale Council since April 2018, I consider that we have collectively achieved many good outcomes for the community. It is now time for Council to look towards a change in leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mayor Ross commended Mr Smart for his dedication to local government over more than four decades and his incredibly professional approach.<\/p>\n
He congratulated him on his outstanding service and wished him all the best for the next chapter of his life when he could enjoy more time with family and friends.<\/p>\n
