The Australian Rural Leadership Foundation is excited to announce an upcoming Changemaker Workshop, a two-day leadership development workshop designed for individuals who want to play a more active role in the Millicent communities and contribute to positive change.<\/p>\n

The workshop, facilitated by the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation (ARLF) under the Future Drought Fund\u2019s Helping Regional Communities Prepare for Drought Initiative, aims to foster self-awareness, community engagement, resilience, leadership skills, and the ability to create positive change while considering diverse perspectives and community well-being. This workshop is open to individuals who have a strong desire to drive meaningful change within their community, an interest in finding innovative solutions for complex challenges, a commitment to exploring new approaches for building a thriving community, and an interest in driving local action to prepare for drought effectively.<\/p>\n

Over the course of the workshop, participants will come away with knowledge and tools to assist in the following areas:<\/p>\n

Join a network of changemakers across rural, regional & remote Australia:<\/p>\n

\u2022 As a collective, delve into your region’s readiness for change.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Explore how change happens, practise how to adapt to change and how to overcome resistance.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Become a changemaker, adapt your skills to enable your involvement in creating new and exciting things, managing setbacks and work collectively and purposefully with others.<\/p>\n

Take part in diverse community conversations:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Understand the local ecosystem; undertake purposeful and inclusive engagement; step into informed and authentic conversations.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Learn how to have those conversations, suspend judgement and assumptions, and build trust and transparency for connection and diverse relationships.<\/p>\n

Create momentum within your community:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Unpack what forms and shapes a community.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Learn how a community can be more inclusive.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Considering the impacts of drought, trauma, and other events, gain the tools to better support others and balance giving and taking within a community.<\/p>\n

Contribute to and inspire your community’s future:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Explore ideas to shape the future you would like to see for your community.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Understand the importance of language and the power of storytelling in motivating and mobilising others.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Learn what makes a good story and how to connect with the hearts and minds of others.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Australian Rural Leadership Foundation has delivered over 126 leadership programs in the last 30 years, dedicated to building thriving rural, regional and remote communities. Just over the past 3 years, we have run leadership programs in over 25 communities across the country building local leadership capacity and networks to bring new understanding, perspective and skills to move forward,\u201d ARLF Chief Executive Matt Linnegar said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis Changemaker Workshop empowers individuals who wish to make a real difference in their communities by providing them with skills in assessing their region\u2019s readiness for change, positive change agency, purposeful engagement and storytelling to shape communities. We believe that through collaboration and purposeful engagement, positive change is not only possible but also achievable.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Changemaker Workshop is a vital component of the $29.6 million Australian Government Future Drought Fund supported Helping Regional Communities Prepare for Drought Initiative. This Initiative combines and builds on previous programs to deliver tailored support in getting agriculture-dependent communities across rural, regional and remote Australia more prepared and resilient to the impacts of drought and changing climate. It is delivered by the Foundation for Rural Regional Renewal in partnership with the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation and community organisations across the country.<\/p>\n

The workshop will be held on 31 October – 1 November 2024 at the Millicent Football Club, 1 Plunkett Terrace, Millicent SA. This is a fully subsidised workshop with catering included across both days.<\/p>\n
