The draft 2024-2028 City of Mount Gambier Strategic Plan is now open for community feedback following council endorsement at the October meeting.<\/p>\n

The draft plan has been informed by the aspirations, priorities and values articulated in the Community Vision \u2013 Mount Gambier 2035 and will guide council\u2019s work over the next four years.<\/p>\n

Council facilitated the development of a new Community Vision between November last year and June this year where residents, workers, students, visitors, business owners, and anyone connected to Mount Gambier were invited to contribute.<\/p>\n

City of Mount Gambier Mayor Lynette Martin said community members and key stakeholders contributed their stories, ideas and perspectives throughout two consultation phases.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis input was then used by a Community Panel to inform their thinking and discussions to shape the vision for Mount Gambier’s future – this Strategic Plan is council\u2019s articulation of its role in contributing to the community vision over the next four years,\u201d Mayor Martin said.<\/p>\n

The strategic priorities outlined in the draft plan include those directly derived from Mount Gambier 2035, under the headings Environment and Liveability, Learning and Innovation, Infrastructure and Services, Economic and Business Growth and A Vibrant Community, along with the addition of a sixth priority that highlights Council\u2019s commitment to accountable leadership and governance.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnder each strategic priority we articulate what success looks like, what we will do and the key projects we will deliver over the next four years as we work towards the long-terms goals in the community\u2019s vision,\u201d Mayor Martin said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt presents council\u2019s vision and purpose statements and summarises the organisational values that guide the way we do our work.\u201d<\/p>\n

City of Mount Gambier CEO Sarah Philpott encourages the community to view the document and provide constructive feedback to assist with finalising the council\u2019s strategic direction.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouncil\u2019s draft Strategic Plan outlines the overarching goals for the next four years, guiding resource allocation and establishing a framework for measuring and reporting progress so it is important for the community to obtain a copy and share their thoughts with us to ensure the plan responds directly to the community’s vision and appropriately addresses the needs and aspirations of those who live, work, study, or visit Mount Gambier,\u201d Ms Philpott said.<\/p>\n

The draft document is available to download at www.haveyoursaymountgambier.com.au<\/a> or in hard copy from the Council office at the Civic Centre.<\/p>\n
