The Third Light Horse Regiment Naracoorte Troop has received $5000 from the Federal Government\u2019s Volunteer Grants Program.<\/p>\n
The Australian Light Horse was a skilled formation of mounted infantry of the Australian Imperial Force. Holding a special place in the hearts of Australian\u2019s, the Light Horse Regiment is legendary for their bravery and courage as well as the bond of loyalty held with their horses.<\/p>\n
Federal Member for Barker Tony Pasin congratulated the troop on the windfall.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom South Africa, Turkey, Palestine and the Western Front, the Australian Light Horse was a highly regarded military unit who served their country with the courage, bravery and camaraderie that has since been instilled in the Australian spirit,\u201d Mr Pasin said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe history and traditions of the Australian Light Horse form an important part of the Australian story and our national identity, particularly in the rural and regional Australia.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Third Light Horse Regiment Naracoorte Troop does a tremendous job to preserve the history and traditions of the Australian Light Horse. I\u2019m proud to provide this small contribution to assist volunteers in this worthy endeavour.\u201d<\/p>\n
The funding will be used by the Naracoorte Troop to purchase uniforms and specialised saddlery equipment unique to the time period.<\/p>\n
\u201cAdditional uniforms and equipment will go some way to encouraging new members of the Naracoorte Troop, ensuring the organisation can keep the Australian Light Horse story alive for generations to come,\u201d Mr Pasin said.<\/p>\n
Third Light Horse Regiment Naracoorte Troop president Richard Moore said the Troop was hoping to grow membership and expand the organisations opportunities.<\/p>\n
\u201cThird Light Horse Regiment Naracoorte Troop is always looking for new members to help commemorate the men and horses who served in the armed forces.
