Applications are now open for the 2025 Limestone Coast Youth Environment Council and all budding land management leaders are encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n

The Limestone Coast Youth Environment Council (LCYEC), is an initiative of the Limestone Coast Landscape Board. Teens in years 7 to 10 can become part of the Limestone Coast Youth Environmental Council and fuel their passion for the Limestone Coast landscape.<\/p>\n

The 2024 LCYEC group wrapped up their year with an overnight camp at Robe recently. Students learnt about ground water systems, noticing and appreciating the small things in our landscape from behind the lens of a camera, and the multitude of living organisms that play vital roles in the health of our landscapes.<\/p>\n

The LCYEC meets between four and 12 times a year to support the Limestone Coast Landscape Board with community events and participate in landscape learning days. They increase their knowledge of the local landscape and issues that they are passionate about.<\/p>\n

Contributing to this year\u2019s agenda, LCYEC undertook revegetation, learnt about our coasts and groundwater systems, and further developed their understanding of our local landscape and its natural resources.<\/p>\n

Limestone Coast Landscape Board educator Damien Bickley said the students had some fantastic opportunities in 2024, including snorkelling Kilsby Sinkhole with Dr Richard Harris, supporting the launch of our Walking the Seasons program and the Day at the Lake event at Lake McIntyre.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing able to showcase our diverse landscape and deepen environmental leadership with our region\u2019s passionate students over the 12 month journey is very rewarding,\u201d Damien said.<\/p>\n
