{"id":12251,"date":"2025-01-18T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-01-17T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=12251"},"modified":"2025-01-15T15:37:13","modified_gmt":"2025-01-15T04:37:13","slug":"the-power-of-sport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/news\/the-power-of-sport\/","title":{"rendered":"The power of sport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Power of Her 2025 Recognition Awards were launched last week celebrating South Australians who empower girls and women in sport.<\/p>\n<p>The awards follow hot on the heels of The Power of Her sessions held in the Limestone Coast at the end of last year.<\/p>\n<p>The awards are the latest initiative in the South Australian Government\u2019s commitment to backing women in sport and will continue the work of helping ensure girls and women can equally and actively participate in the sport they love.<\/p>\n<p>The awards will showcase individuals, clubs, associations, and State sport and recreation organisations who are implementing programs and initiatives which empower girls and women to pursue their sporting passions and help to advance gender equality \u2013 in sport and everywhere.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations are open in the following categories:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The Power of Her \u2013 Emerging Leader<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The Power of Her \u2013 Media Champion<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The Power of Her \u2013 Sponsor Champion<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The Power of Her \u2013 Champion Local Club \u2013 Metropolitan<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The Power of Her \u2013 Champion Local Club \u2013 Regional<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The Power of Her \u2013 Outstanding Organisation<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The Power of Her \u2013 Champion of Change<\/p>\n<p>The awards further add to the legacy of the 2023 FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup when The Power of Her concept was introduced through a remarkably successful \u2018Women in Leadership Symposium\u2019 where more than 1000 attendees came together to advance gender equality.<\/p>\n<p>South Australian Minister for Women Katrine Hildyard said momentum from the magnificent Matildas and FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup continues and we are determined to harness it as we continue working to advance gender equality.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSport is such a powerful vehicle for change,\u201d Minister Hildyard said. \u201cWhen we equally include girls and women and celebrate their strength, physicality and power, it transforms attitudes bout girls and women and the roles they can play in sport and everywhere else.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am thrilled that we can formally recognise those who are progressing change that is making a difference, those who are going above and beyond in their sport and community to ensure girls and women of all abilities can deepen their participation in their chosen sport and experience the many benefits of being involved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese awards are another clear demonstration of our government\u2019s steadfast commitment to advancing women in sport. These Power of Her Awards build on the State Government\u2019s efforts to tackle gender inequality; we have also re-established the Women in Sport Taskforce, implemented The Power of Her \u2013 Infrastructure and Participation grant program and invested in the Game Changing.
