This year we will see Darry entertaining the crowd herself, discussing her latest release.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Inspired by a love for the Murray River which began when her family moved to Swan Hill, Darry\u2019s creativity soared with a series of her novels set there, including her first published in 2016 \u2013 \u2018Daughter of the Murray\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Set is Echua in 1894 The Night on the Darling River follows Tess, a woman on the run from her abusive husband.<\/p>\n<p>Amid the rising flood waters of the Murray River and shearers\u2019 strike violence Tess needs to board the riverboat and she will be free. When a brawl breaks out between unionist shearers and Scabs, Tess is mistaken for a Scab and is pulled aboard the wrong boat \u2013 the same boat her husband is bound for.<\/p>\n<p>The event is free with supper provided and books available for sale and signing on the night.
