{"id":12666,"date":"2025-02-26T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-25T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=12666"},"modified":"2025-02-19T15:21:47","modified_gmt":"2025-02-19T04:21:47","slug":"local-illustrator-to-reveal-second-book","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/news\/local-illustrator-to-reveal-second-book\/","title":{"rendered":"Local illustrator to reveal second book"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mount Gambier Library will host a special family event with author Kristin Martin and local illustrator Bianca Richardson to celebrate the launch of their second book \u2018Honey Possum\u2019s Bush Caf\u00e9\u2019 on Saturday, March 15, at 11am.<\/p>\n<p>Following the success of their first picture book \u2018Banjo Frog\u2019s Concert Spectacular\u2019, \u2018Honey Possum\u2019s Bush Caf\u00e9\u2019 is the second in the series which sets out to explain to children how introduced wild rabbits affect native plants and animals.<\/p>\n<p>Set in the Stirling Ranges in southwest Western Australia, the book features much loved character Easter Bilby while also introducing some new native wildlife.<\/p>\n<p>Author Kristin Martin, who wrote the story back in 2023 based on discussions with Vicki Linton from the Foundation for Rabbit Free Australia, said she is excited to see the story come to life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith Bianca\u2019s gorgeous characters and design we have created a charming book that children will enjoy and hopefully learn from without even realising they\u2019re learning,\u201d Ms Martin said.<\/p>\n<p>Mount Gambier designer and illustrator Bianca Richardson said she was looking forward to launching the book at her local Library.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe local support has been so heart-warming and the biggest indicator of success to me has been the interest from the children, and of course the special people in their life who are purchasing this book,\u201d Bianca said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has also been wonderful to work alongside Kristin again.
