ROCK hounds, fossickers, gold prospectors, collectors, jewellery makers and generally curious are invited to join the Mount Gambier Gem Club and South East Detectors Club at Shed 6, Hastings Cunningham Reserve on Saturday, April 12, from 10am to 2pm.<\/p>\n
Both clubs are working together to present a fascinating day of displays, activities and information for the general public to experience.<\/p>\n
These two clubs complement each other\u2019s passions and continue to share all things mineral, rock, crystal, gold and relics as they keep the lapidary, prospecting and collecting vision active in our community.<\/p>\n
It is time to bring out the collection and welcome visitors again.<\/p>\n
See detecting in the park, displays, children\u2019s activities, demonstrations and specimens for sale.<\/p>\n
The clubs meet regularly at Shed 6. Memberships are available for both groups and families can join together in an alternative hobby to discover new or inexpensive crafts.<\/p>\n
Metal detecting is not just searching for that elusive gold nugget – there are many surprises buried and lost, waiting to be discovered.<\/p>\n
Learn to work with rocks, metals, shells or something entirely different.<\/p>\n
The clubs will be showcasing specimens, detecting and gemstones.<\/p>\n
The workshop will be buzzing with activity while members work on polishing their treasures.<\/p>\n
Jewellery making is always a passion shared by this group of enthusiasts.<\/p>\n
People are invited to bring along a special rock to discuss with club members.<\/p>\n
Both clubs strive to move forward discovering new crafts and information.<\/p>\n
Field trips are a regular part of the annual program, along with workshops and social events.<\/p>\n
Specimen collecting is a whole new world of discovery.<\/p>\n
There are activities suitable for people with disabilities and children of school age.<\/p>\n
If you are a hobbyist, a serious rock hound, prospector or just looking to try something new, then come along to the open day and learn to think outside the box.<\/p>\n
