{"id":13458,"date":"2025-04-13T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-04-12T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=13458"},"modified":"2025-04-09T14:49:29","modified_gmt":"2025-04-09T04:49:29","slug":"fantasy-fiction-in-the-spotlight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/news\/fantasy-fiction-in-the-spotlight\/","title":{"rendered":"Fantasy fiction in the spotlight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FANTASY author Rose Harvey is set to discuss her novels at Mount Gambier Library on Wednesday, April 23, at 7pm.<\/p>\n<p>Rose is known for writing young adult fantasy novels full of magic, mystery and love.<\/p>\n<p>She began writing at the age of seven, with her passion continuing into adulthood and now a published author.<\/p>\n<p>Rose is an Adelaide-based high school teacher of English and French and can also be found on the amateur theatre stage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will be my first time in Mount Gambier and I&#8217;m really looking forward to the event and sharing my books and writing journey with new readers in regional SA,\u201d Rose Harvey said.<\/p>\n<p>The Ice Flame trilogy consists of the books Heir to the Ice Flame, Heart of Ice, and Fire on the Ice.<\/p>\n<p>The trilogy follows Princess Nina Fiordlasher as she strives to reclaim her stolen throne in the magical realm of Scardia.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the series, Rose weaves elements of magic, love, and betrayal crafting a richly imagined world that delves into the challenges of destiny and the resilience required to overcome formidable adversities.<\/p>\n<p>Rose\u2019s novel Heir to the Ice Flame won the 2024 International Firebird Award for fantasy, and second place in the magical realism category. It also received third place in the 2024 DBT Literary Awards for teen fantasy.<\/p>\n<p>Rose will also discuss her latest release, Robin, which follows Laura Jeffires who was rescued from her burning home six years ago and taken to another world by two strangers.<\/p>\n<p>Her only hope of getting back home lies with the Order of Robins, a mysterious group who maintain balance and peace between worlds.<\/p>\n<p>Children\u2019s and Youth Services team leader Erin Jones said they were excited to host Rose and explore the wonderful world of fantasy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFantasy novels are growing in popularity amongst youth and adults, this event is bound to be received well in our community,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Suitable for adults and youth ages 12+.<\/p>\n<p>This is a free event with supper provided and books available for sale and signing on the night.
