A NEW Little FREE Pantry offering free hygiene products is now available to the Portland community, thanks to a partnership between the Salvation Army Portland and United Way Glenelg.<\/p>\n

Located at 33 Henty Street – just a short walk from public amenities – the pantry provides access to items such as soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes, and sanitary products.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s designed to support individuals and families who may be experiencing financial pressure or have limited access to these everyday essentials.<\/p>\n

United Way Glenelg executive officer Nicole Carr said this latest pantry is part of a growing network across the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cAccess to hygiene products is fundamental to maintaining dignity and wellbeing,\u201d Ms Carr said. \u201cWe\u2019re proud to work with the Salvation Army to provide this discreet and easy-to-use pantry in a central location.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know the difference a small item can make to someone\u2019s day\u2014this is about showing care in practical ways.\u201d<\/p>\n

Captain Peter Stamp from the Salvation Army Portland echoed the importance of the initiative.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe regularly see people come through our doors who are doing it tough,\u201d he said. \u201cThe hygiene pantry is another way we can respond to those needs, helping people feel confident, cared for, and supported.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s accessible 24\/7, and it\u2019s anonymous – people can take what they need, when they need it, no questions asked.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is the first Little FREE Pantry in Portland focused solely on hygiene items.<\/p>\n

It complements existing pantries in the area that provide food and is stocked through community donations and support from local partners.<\/p>\n
