{"id":13959,"date":"2025-05-18T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-17T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=13959"},"modified":"2025-05-14T16:50:18","modified_gmt":"2025-05-14T06:50:18","slug":"naracoorte-kings-join-elite-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/sport\/naracoorte-kings-join-elite-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"Naracoorte Kings join elite competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Naracoorte Kings created local regional basketball history by joining the South East Coast Basketball League Men\u2019s competition and hence expanding the program to include three regional basketball centres.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Millicent and Mount Gambier are founding members.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On May 7, the Kings scored their first SECBL win, defeating Roos 88 to 52.<\/p>\n<p>Zac Walker, Mitch Garwood and Jack Barker were the leading scorers for the Kings.<\/p>\n<p>The need for Naracoorte to widen the horizons for their local players is so strong that they are competing in this and the coming season at the Millicent and Mount Gambier venues.<\/p>\n<p>The long term aim is to have Naracoorte men and women competing as fully fledged SECBL participants in the 2026 Winter Season.<\/p>\n<p>This season comprises a 15-week regulation season followed by three weeks of finals, culminating with the grand final on Sunday, August 31.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Naracoorte Kings created local regional basketball history by joining the South East Coast Basketball League Men\u2019s competition and hence expanding the program to include three regional basketball centres.
