CITY of Mount Gambier chief executive officer Sarah Philpott will retire later this year after almost 30 years of public service within local government.<\/p>\n
Sarah tendered her resignation to Mayor Lynette Martin on May 8 and her final day with council will be 1 August 1 this year.<\/p>\n
Sarah commenced her career in local government with the City of Mount Gambier in 1992, and has held senior and executive leadership roles in local government in three states.<\/p>\n
She re-joined the City of Mount Gambier as CEO in 2021, with an intention to give back to the community which was her home growing up, and gave her the opportunities she has enjoyed throughout her career.<\/p>\n
She leaves to spend time with family, friends and explore new learning.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been privileged to work in local government in many different roles \u2013 it is a sector where you never stop learning, where you help make it possible for communities to reach their potential, and to work with team members who are passionate and committed to providing positive outcomes,\u201d Sarah said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile at the City of Mount Gambier, we have together delivered on many fronts for our community, and there is a good foundation for a new leader to bring fresh ideas and energy to the CEO role. I have been fortunate to work with a supportive and hard working Mayor and councillor group, and I thank them for their support during my tenure. And to the executive team and the wonderful staff of the City, my thanks also \u2013 I could not have asked for a better team to work with.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mayor Martin thanked Sarah for her commitment and hard work on behalf of the community and council.<\/p>\n
\u201cSarah is a dedicated and compassionate leader, investing in and empowering her staff, achieving change which has provided improved outcomes for the organisation and our community,\u201d Mayor Martin said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSarah has supported me as Mayor, and Elected Members in our endeavours to achieve outcomes for our city and community and maintain our position as South Australia’s largest regional centre, including the delivery of our City’s largest infrastructure project, Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre.<\/p>\n
\u201cSarah will assist the organisation in concluding the current budget process, as well as progressing a number of key projects, and preparing for a seamless handover before she leaves on 1 August 2025.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe timing of Sarah\u2019s retirement means that Council will now commence the recruitment process for a new CEO. This will allow the new CEO to be in place well in advance of the next Council election to assist this current Council to progress against our priorities, and to ensure a smooth induction for Council post-election.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
