THE District Council of Grant is calling on local artists living with disability to showcase their talents in the inaugural Art-Ability Exhibition being held at The Hangar Gallery from September this year.<\/p>\n

The exciting new exhibition, recommended by Council\u2019s Access and Inclusion Advisory Panel, will highlight the diverse talents of people living with disabilities in the community.<\/p>\n

Access and Inclusion Advisory Panel chair and councillor Katherine Greene said the exhibition coincides with International Day of Disability.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe day aims to increase awareness, understanding and acceptance of people living with disabilities and the Art-Ability Exhibition is a meaningful way council is acknowledging their artistic talents,\u201d Cr Greene said. \u201cAlso as part of this year\u2019s celebrations, council will be presenting a People\u2019s Choice Award to artists, as voted by the community.\u201d<\/p>\n

A prize pool of $500 will be on offer to all participating artists in the Art-Ability Exhibition.<\/p>\n

Recipients will be announced on Tuesday, December 3 – International Day of People with Disability.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis exhibition is more than just art, it\u2019s about promoting the equitable inclusion of people with disability and celebrating the diversity of people in our community. I encourage all eligible artists to get involved,\u201d Cr Greene said.<\/p>\n

Artists living with a disability and residing or working in the District Council of Grant area or broader Limestone Coast region are invited to apply to have their artwork displayed and sold in The Hangar Gallery between September this year and February 2026.<\/p>\n

Entries close 5:00pm Monday 28 July 2025.<\/p>\n

District Council of Grant CEO Darryl Whicker highlighted council\u2019s continued commitment to increasing access and inclusion.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Art-Ability Exhibition supports council\u2019s goal of embedding disability access and inclusion into our business-as-usual processes,\u201d Mr Wuicker said. \u201cIf we all make small and consistent efforts to improve accessibility and inclusion each day, it can positively impact our community in a significant way.<\/p>\n
