IN perfect weather conditions, albeit after a very icy start finishing in warm sunshine, the 2025 Caffe Belgiorno\u2019s sponsored Handicap Championships got underway with a display of some good golf during the allocated 27 holes, especially in the Division Two final.<\/p>\n
In Division One Josie Ashby was pitted against Dianne Perryman, winner of this event quite a few times over a couple of decades, but it was Ashby\u2019s turn this time.<\/p>\n
Both played off a 21 handicap, so no giving of extra strokes, and it was Ashby taking the lead from the get-go to be 3-up after the first nine holes and not taking her foot off the pedal she won another six and two squared holes of the next nine taking the championship on the 18th hole.<\/p>\n
The Division Two final between Bev Pascoe and Dianne Allen was a close affair going to the 25th hole.<\/p>\n
Pascoe is another player with finals experience and her name on the trophy a few times.<\/p>\n
Pascoe played off a 30 handicap and Allen 38.<\/p>\n
As it panned out Allen didn\u2019t capitalise on the holes she received the extra strokes on having to work harder to win on the other holes.<\/p>\n
Pascoe was 1-up after the first nine and Allen was not losing sight of her being only 2-down after the 18th hole.<\/p>\n
Going back to the 1st (19th) the scores seesawed with Pascoe 2-up on the 22nd then a squared on the 23rd finishing with wins on 24th and 25th holes taking the championship 4\/2.<\/p>\n
During presentations Annette Ford captain (Div 2 umpire) and Ronda Edwards vice Captain (Div 1 umpire) and caddies were thanked.<\/p>\n
MAY 21 STABLEFORD RESULTS<\/strong><\/p>\n Those not involved in the championships played a stableford competition and it was club captain Helen Myers leading the way in Division One.<\/p>\n Myers played off a 17 handicap and signed for 33 points with pars on the 5th, 9th and 15th holes in her splits of 18\/15.<\/p>\n Jaynee Oberer took the second place voucher scoring 27 points off her 27 handicap after a countback with Cherryl Hill and Beryl Mahoney also posting 27 points.<\/p>\n Oberer had a par on the 1st hole along with three-pointers in her 14\/13 splits. Hill off her 22 handicap had splits of 16\/11 with a par recorded on the 14th.<\/p>\n The score of the day came from Division Two\u2019s Lynda Nannings after signing for 36 points off her 34 handicap.<\/p>\n Nannings had splits of 16\/20 with three three-pointers, a par on the 5th and a four-pointer par on the 14th.<\/p>\n Second placegetter was Trudy-Anne Doyle (38) posting 35 points with four three-pointers and a par four-pointer on the 12th hole included in her 20\/15 splits.<\/p>\n Gael Ford took the third place voucher after a three-way countback from Lynette Hirth and Lyn Annand all signing for 28 points. Ford played off 45 with splits of 16\/12.<\/p>\n Nearest to the pin 2nd shot winners were Beryl Mahoney (1.25) and Lyn Annand (1.71)<\/p>\n Pro-shot winner was Sue Agars (2.25). Myers 16th and 13th and Nannings had chip-in ferrets.<\/p>\n
