Mount Gambier and the wider South East region are set to lose free-to-air access to AFL coverage, with WIN Network confirming it will no longer broadcast Seven Network channels including 7, 7mate and 7two from Monday 1 July.<\/p>\n
The decision follows a breakdown in negotiations between WIN and Seven West Media, ending a broadcast partnership that has long delivered live AFL, Test cricket and other major events into regional homes.<\/p>\n
The change affects viewers across Mount Gambier, Loxton and Griffith in New South Wales\u2019 Riverina, who will need to access Seven\u2019s programming via the 7plus streaming platform instead.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile we are disappointed with Seven West Media\u2019s decision, we respect their right to pursue their commercial strategies,\u201d WIN Network chief executive Andrew Lancaster said.<\/p>\n
Those without reliable internet or streaming access may be left without a way to watch live matches or national sporting coverage.<\/p>\n
WIN has confirmed no jobs will be lost, with local staff to remain in Mount Gambier, Berri and Griffith.<\/p>\n
Seven has left the door open to further negotiations with WIN.<\/p>\n
