LAST Thursday, 49 South East golfers played at the Lucindale Ladies Open Day in near perfect weather conditions with little wind and welcoming sunshine.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, the fine weather didn\u2019t positively influence the scores, with only two ladies playing to or below their handicap.<\/p>\n
Greenskeeper Don Thiele presented the course so well considering the challenging weather this year.<\/p>\n
Once again, the club is indebted to Malcolm Collins and his team at Naracoorte Toyota for their generous support.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s now the 16th consecutive year of sponsorship and it was great to have the Toyota team represented by Alicia Munro and Jessica Dunstan to present the prizes.<\/p>\n
Alex Lambert (Millicent) and Karena Higgins (Lucindale) both had 86 off the stick and needed to play the 1st hole again to decide the champion .<\/p>\n
Congratulations to A Grade gross winner Alex and runner up Karena.<\/p>\n
A Grade nett winner was Jacki Baker (Lucindale) on 76 and Elaine Morrow (Kingston) was nett runner up with 77 on a countback from Sharon Menz (Lucindale).<\/p>\n
Karena Higgins won A Grade longest drive and Megan Watson (Lucindale) was A Grade NTP winner.<\/p>\n
B Grade winner was Kerry Gilkes (Lucindale) with 37 Stableford points and runner up was Marlene Bull (Naracoorte) with 33.<\/p>\n
Third was Issie Carracher on 29, fourth was Shylie Yelland with 28 and fifth was Cheryl Fitzgerald on 27 – all from Lucindale.<\/p>\n
Vanessa Stone (Lucindale) had the longest drive in B Grade and was also B Grade NTP recipient.<\/p>\n
All C Grade winners were from Lucindale – Petrina Smith was first with 37 stableford points and Julie Wilks was runner up on 34 points.<\/p>\n
Third on 31 points was Judy James, fourth Sally Clarke with 29 and fifth was Fionna McInnes with 28 on a countback from Chris McDonald (Naracoorte).<\/p>\n
Judy James won C Grade longest drive and Karen Gould won NTP in C Grade.<\/p>\n
Veteran\u2019s prize was won by Petrina Smith and the teams event was won by Lucindale trio Karena Higgins, Petrina Smith and Karen Gould with 101 points.<\/p>\n
The day was well organised by captain Fionna McInnes and her match committee, while president Vanessa Stone organised the generous amount of raffle prizes.<\/p>\n
Local artisan Margot Di Giorgio made all the amazing pottery prizes, while Kate Jolly donated her honey and Rory Paltridge for the Rowallan Olives.<\/p>\n
It was also great to have some of the male club members who helped in the kitchen, bar and scorecards with multiple countbacks.<\/p>\n
The famous Lucindale hospitality continues at the Lucindale Golf Tournament to be held July 18-20.<\/p>\n
Rabobank are sponsoring a Mixed Pinehurst Championship (& a stableford for players without partners) on Friday, July 18, with an 11.30am hit off.<\/p>\n
CASE IH are sponsoring a Men\u2019s and Ladies 4 Ball Better Ball.Stableford on July 19 (hit off at 11.30am) as well as the Men\u2019s 18 Hole Championship at 10am on July 20.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
