MID South East teams Mount Burr and Tantanoola will be blushing in pink in Round 13 on Saturday, July 19, 2025, as they rally together in support of Breast Cancer Awareness and local cancer care.<\/p>\n
Held at Mount Burr, the round will serve as a heartfelt tribute to those affected by breast cancer in the Limestone Coast community, and as a powerful fundraiser for the Millicent Cancer Support Group.<\/p>\n
Funds raised will go towards the purchase of a Gamma Probe \u2013 a vital piece of surgical equipment used in breast cancer operations to detect lymph nodes that may contain cancer cells.<\/p>\n
This technology plays a crucial role in ensuring precision during surgery and improving recovery outcomes.<\/p>\n
Mt Burr Netball Club President Stacey Lowndes said this was more than just a match.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s about coming together as a community to support those who are facing one of life\u2019s toughest battles,” she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cMany of our players, families, and supporters have been personally impacted by breast cancer. Supporting this cause is close to all our hearts.\u201d<\/p>\n
The importance of this effort has been heightened with the recent resumption of local breast cancer surgeries after a five-month pause \u2014 a development that brings fresh hope to families across the region.<\/p>\n
Throughout the day, players across all grades in both codes will wear pink socks in support of the initiative.<\/p>\n
Off the courts, the host club will host a variety of fundraising activities including, gate raffle and lucky squares, Breast Cancer Round Hair ribbon sales + food and drink stalls, with all proceeds going directly to the fundraising effort<\/p>\n
Mount Burr A Grade netball coach Madi Haggett has been instrumental in bringing the day together and encourages all to get behind this worthy cause.<\/p>\n
“We\u2019re calling on everyone \u2013 whether you’re a spectator, player, a survivor, or someone who simply wants to make a difference \u2013 to come along, donate, and show your support,\u201d Madi said. \u201cEvery dollar will contribute toward ensuring the best possible care is available right here, close to home.\u201d<\/p>\n
