THE Millicent Choral Society has been entertaining the local community and beyond for the best part of five decades and their next performance is this weekend.<\/p>\n
The \u2018Warmth in Winter\u2019 Concert is this Sunday in the Millicent Uniting Church Hall at 2pm.<\/p>\n
Choir leader Michael Bleby said this weekend\u2019s performance will showcase a diverse range of music including a program of songs from shows, some choral favourites and new music in their repertoire.<\/p>\n
There will also be a quiz topped off with a splendid afternoon tea \u2013 all of which will warm the heart this winter.<\/p>\n
The Millicent Choral Society was formed in 1974 and has run continuously, performing at a variety of venues through the region and further afield.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are so many good venues for singing in this region – the Uniting Church Hall, other churches, the Civic & Arts Centre,\u201d Michael said. \u201cWe have also done a couple of concerts in the Tantanoola Cave over the years and they have been hugely successful. The acoustics are like a cathedral and we have sold out concerts that can have 60 people seated in the stunning cave setting.\u201d<\/p>\n
The choir has hit the road as well at South Australian Choral Association events, as well as Victorian events, and they have joined forces with other choirs, including the Port Lincoln choir, at festival events.<\/p>\n
In its hey day, membership was around 30 singers and still now sits around the 15-20 mark.<\/p>\n
The Millicent Choral Society is a genuine community choir \u2013 no audition required \u2013 it is all about the enjoyment of singing.<\/p>\n
Tickets for this Sunday\u2019s \u2018Warmth in Winter\u2019 Concert are $15 for adults and children (under 18) for a gold coin donation, with tickets available at the door for cash only.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
