THIRTY-ONE lady golfers entered into the very popular Stableford Short Course Competition at the Mount Gambier Golf Club last Wednesday, generously sponsored by Mary Kentish.<\/p>\n
The weather was clear and fine, the course and greens were good and the scoring was exceptional.<\/p>\n
Handicaps had been adjusted for the Short Course, thus golfers were playing off much lower handicaps than normal.<\/p>\n
In Division 1 Jess Parsons (Handicap 12) had a great round of golf registering 5 under her handicap with 41 points, made up with a split of 19\/22=41 points.<\/p>\n
Jess had a birdie on the difficult Par 4, 14th Hole plus six three pointers complementing her round.<\/p>\n
Coming in second place was long standing member Val Grubb (Handicap 14) with one under her handicap 37 points 19\/18=37 points.<\/p>\n
Val had 10 pars in her score and three wipeouts prevented her having many more points.<\/p>\n
Division 2 winner with a great score of 40 points (23\/17=40 points) was Libby Furner (Handica 28).<\/p>\n
Libby had an exceptional front nine posting two four pointers and 5 three pointers and she recorded scores on every hole.<\/p>\n
Nine balls were handed out to ladies for their good play and went to Deb Sheather (37 points) down to Mardi Goodes (34 points).<\/p>\n
A new addition to the Speciality Prizes was whoever hit the most greens in two and went to Val Grubb who hit 13 greens.<\/p>\n
The Pro Shot was won by Lizzie Clements.<\/p>\n
This week\u2019s competition will be the last Monthly Medal Stroke Round, Handicap Championship Qualifying Round, Putting, 3rd Round Winter Salver and a Stableford Competition is optional.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
