The call has gone out to the Limestone Coast community for nominations for the Koppamurra Community Consultative Committee (CCC)<\/a>. The CCC will formalise consultation on the proposed Australian Rare Earths (AR3)<\/a> mine between the exploration company and key representatives of the community.<\/p>\n

It will comprise of up to 12 people who live locally and are committed to supporting informed decision-making about the project. Nominees must represent a key group in the community including landowners\/users, such as wine growers, croppers, graziers and foresters. In addition to the agriculture sector, the CCC is seeking representation from local business, community services, tourism, regional and economic development bodies, local government, environmental and conservation groups, education providers and special interest groups.<\/p>\n

Former State Government Minister Iain Evans<\/a> has been appointed Chair of the independent committee. He has written a Terms of Reference and Code of Conduct.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the most effective way for representatives in the community to have their say on the project, ask questions and have concerns addressed by AR3 in a formalised and constructive way,\u201d said Mr Evans.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe CCC will be an open and respectful conversation where information and updates will be shared with members as AR3 progresses its environmental, social, economic and feasibility studies.<\/p>\n

\u201cI call on those who represent various groups in the community to nominate for the CCC. It is your chance to voice the concerns of your group in a formalised way as part of an independent process.\u201d<\/p>\n
