THE District Council of Grant continues to proudly support the next generation of leaders recognising the hard work of local high school students with financial sponsorship for further education.<\/p>\n
Five students from Years 10 to 12, living in the District Council of Grant and studying at Allendale East Area School or in Mount Gambier, have each received a $750 Academic Scholarship.<\/p>\n
The awards celebrate students who consistently demonstrate their school\u2019s values, maintain a strong attendance and express a commitment to further study.<\/p>\n
District Council of Grant Mayor Kylie Boston said was a privilege for council to encourage and support local students to pursue their education goals.<\/p>\n
\u201cCouncil is proud to celebrate and reward the hard work of our young people,\u201d Mayor Boston said. \u201cOur region thrives because of these young people. Education is so important for the growth of our youth and these scholarships provide a great opportunity for students to build their skills and achieve their goals in their chosen fields.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would like to extend a huge congratulations to all the 2025 scholarship recipients and wish them the best on their future education journey.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 2025 District Council of Grant Academic Scholarship Award winners are:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 Emily Bowman from Allendale East Area School;<\/p>\n \u2022 Brad Walkom from Grant High School;<\/p>\n \u2022 Peta Polgreen from Mount Gambier High School;<\/p>\n \u2022 Chelsea Job from St Martins Lutheran College;<\/p>\n \u2022 Cedar Scott from Tenison Woods College.<\/p>\n Allendale East Area School principal Kylie Smith said the program makes a real difference to regional students like Emily to prepare for their future.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are delighted to have the ongoing support of the District Council of Grant each year, providing an opportunity for our local rural students to gain much appreciated funds to assist them in achieving their best academic results as they prepare for a transition to further study and\/or employment,\u201d Mrs Smith said.<\/p>\n \u201cEmily has been an exemplary role model at Allendale East Area School, consistently embodying our core values of Excellence, Courage, and Respect. Her leadership extends across all year levels, and she is diligently working towards completing her SACE and Certificate III in Child Studies. Emily’s gratitude and humility shine through as she plans to use her scholarship to assist in her studies.\u201d<\/p>\n Allendale East Area School student Emily Bowman said she is looking forward to working towards her academic goals with the assistance from Council\u2019s scholarship program.<\/p>\n \u201cAs a rural student, these funds will assist in alleviating some financial pressures that come with transitioning from school to further study and employment.
