FAMILIES across the Glenelg Shire are invited to enjoy a vibrant school holiday program, with a range of free activities on offer this Spring.<\/p>\n
Running from the 22 September \u2013 3 October across the townships of Heywood, Portland and Casterton, the program features LEGO challenges, marine life exploration, collage sessions and cabaret workshops, as well as the Glow Roller Disco.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know school holidays can be a challenging time for parents and carers, which is why Council proudly offers a holiday program every quarter. There\u2019s no need to pack the car and head out of town, there\u2019s something for all ages and for all interests close to home,\u201d said Glenelg Shire Mayor Cr Karen Stephens.<\/p>\n
\u201cFamilies will notice an exciting new addition to this holiday\u2019s program \u2014 the Your Story, Your Stage workshop. This inclusive session celebrates the voices and experiences of our disabled and neurodiverse community. Participants will even have the opportunity to feature their performance in Inside Out, this year\u2019s all abilities art exhibition at the Portland Arts Centre.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Glow Roller Disco also promises to be a family favourite, with sessions for all ages (including adults) in Casterton and Portland.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhether your child loves skating, art or science, there\u2019s something here to spark their imagination. I encourage families to explore the full program and make the most of these fantastic free opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n
Program highlights include:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 Glow Roller Disco \u2013 Skate to chart-topping beats at Casterton Town Hall (22 Sept) and Portland Civic Hall (23 Sept), with sessions for all age groups.<\/p>\n \u2022 LEGO Town Takeover \u2013 Build, make and play at libraries in Casterton (1 Oct), Heywood (2 Oct) and Portland (3 Oct) for ages 5\u201312.<\/p>\n \u2022 Youth Mural Reveal \u2013 Celebrate the unveiling of the Youth Fest Mural at Flinders Park (25 Sept) with a free BBQ lunch.<\/p>\n \u2022 Reef in Your Hands \u2013 Explore the wonders of the Southern Ocean at Portland Maritime Museum (24 Sept & 1 Oct).<\/p>\n \u2022 Layering Landscapes \u2013 Create quirky artworks using historic photos at Portland Arts Centre (2 Oct) and Casterton Library (3 Oct).<\/p>\n \u2022 Your Story, Your Stage \u2013 A disability-led cabaret workshop at Portland Arts Centre (2 Oct) for ages 13+.<\/p>\n For further information, including booking details, please visit the Glenelg Shire Council website.<\/p>\n
