AWARD winning author Margaret Hickey will return to Mount Gambier Library for the launch of her latest rural crime novel An Ill Wind on Wednesday 24 September 2025 at 7:00pm.<\/p>\n

\u201cMargaret Hickey is one of Australia\u2019s most acclaimed contemporary crime writers, known for her exceptional gift for breathing life into her characters and celebrating Australia\u2019s natural and rural landscapes,\u201d City of Mount Gambier Community Development Coordinator Kristi Brooks said.<\/p>\n

An Ill Wind centres on a rural Victorian community adjusting to the sudden influx of wind turbine farms. The town is divided, with multi-generational families wary of change, technology and conspiracy theories verses those families cashing in on the opportunity and supporting renewable energy.<\/p>\n

When the CEO of Clean Energy Australia is found dead, local police uncover something sinister.<\/p>\n

Margaret Hickey is a proven crowd favourite for Mount Gambier readers, with enthusiastic audiences attending her previous book launches for Stone Town, Broken Bay and The Creeper.<\/p>\n
