LOCALS and visitors alike are invited to dig deep and let their imagination run wild in the upcoming Beachport Sandcastle and Sand Art Competition, a free, all-ages event celebrating creativity, community and the stunning natural beauty of Beachport\u2019s beaches.<\/p>\n

Hosted by Wattle Range Council in partnership with the Beachport Tourism Working Group, the competition invites participants to build sandcastles or create sand art using only natural or sustainable materials within 15km of the Beachport township.<\/p>\n

Wattle Range Council director of development services Emma Clay said this was a fantastic opportunity for families, individuals and creatives of all ages to get out, get sandy and showcase what makes Beachport so special.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether you\u2019re here for a few hours, staying a few nights, or lucky enough to call Beachport home, this competition is a perfect way to connect with the coast and the community,\u201d Ms Clay said.<\/p>\n

To enter, participants simply need to create their masterpiece on any beach within 15km of the Beachport township, take a photo of their creation, and include a photo of a receipt from any local Beachport business. Entries close Monday, December 1.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot only is this a fun and free activity for everyone, but it\u2019s also about supporting our local traders and showcasing what Beachport has to offer, from shopping and museums, to pristine beaches and coastal walks,\u201d Ms Clay said. \u201cThere\u2019s something in Beachport for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Beachport Sandcastle and Sand Art Competition is just one of several exciting projects currently underway to keep Beachport vibrant and welcoming, during roadworks.<\/p>\n

Visitors this spring can also enjoy special school holiday events, quirky fun photo boards around town, and a hay trail featuring artistically decorated hay bales by local schools and creatives along the detour route.<\/p>\n

Beachport local and Tourism Working Group member Leah Hamilton said Beachport was putting itself on the map as a creative hot spot.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the Beachport Art Gallery in the works and initiatives like this competition, we\u2019re proving that Beachport is not just a destination, it\u2019s an experience,\u201d Ms Hamilton said.<\/p>\n
