THE Castec Rural Pioneers are excited to announce the resigning of Castec Rural Pioneers captain Kane de Wit for the 2026 NBL1 South season – thie first official signature for the 2026 season.<\/p>\n
As an on-court leader of the Pioneers since 2023, de Wit\u2019s continued commitment is a major boost for the club as we build our roster for the 2026 NBL1 South season.<\/p>\n
Known for his leadership, consistency, and passion for the game, de Wit has become a cornerstone of the Pioneers program, both on and off the floor.<\/p>\n
de Wit has played a pivotal role in driving the club\u2019s standards, guiding younger teammates, and representing the Pioneers with pride throughout his career.<\/p>\n
His re-signing ensures the Castec Rural Pioneers enter the 2026 season with a strong foundation of experience and direction.<\/p>\n
With the 2026 NBL1 South season fast approaching, the Pioneers are focused on building a competitive roster that will excite fans at Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre.<\/p>\n
The return of de Wit, leading the team into another campaign, sets the stage for a season full of opportunity and ambition.<\/p>\n
de Wit said he is thrilled to return, adding that being part of the club\u2019s new era under recently appointed head coach Pete Godfrey is a special opportunity:<\/p>\n
\u201cExcited to be back for season 2026,\u201d de Wit said. \u201cTo be a part of the new direction for the club under new head coach Peter Godfrey is a great opportunity. I can\u2019t wait to get back on court in front of the fans at Wulanda and look to compete for a championship once again.\u201d<\/p>\n
Godfrey said that securing his captain was one of his first priorities upon taking charge of the Pioneers:<\/p>\n
\u201cKane\u2019s re-signing for NBL1 26 was a priority after the ink dried on my appointment to coach the Pioneers,\u201d Godfrey said. \u201cKane is a savvy play-making floor general with 200 senior games of experience under his belt.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to utilising Kane\u2019s leadership and experience on and off the court as we build the roster and head into the season.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s a \u2018young\u2019 veteran with some great basketball ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cKane has been an outstanding leader of our club. To have our captain\u2019s commitment as the club heads into a new era is hugely exciting.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn 2024 Kane achieved 200 games, the first ever local product to do so.<\/p>\n
\u201cKane contributes hugely to our club and basketball community both on and off the court.<\/p>\n
