THE weather gods looked favourably on the women at the Blue Lake Golf Club last week when they held their annual fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Awareness Group raising a massive $1000 with more to come from a ambrose that was held on Sunday, October 12, with OG Roberts dealership as major sponsor.<\/p>\n
The money will go towards the Helping Hand Bags full of vouchers and much needed goodies for those going through breast cancer treatments, sometimes making endless trips to Adelaide.<\/p>\n
A presentation was made to representatives Jill Gilmore and Loraine Baron by Beryl Mahoney, Bev Pascoe and Karen Panagopoulos<\/p>\n
With expected showers, the wind gusts quickly nulified any attempt at inclement weather with most in the clubhouse before the rain came.<\/p>\n
The women played a aggregate stableford with lots of novelty events throughout the 18 holes.<\/p>\n
Decorated golf carts, a drinks cart manned by Carol Megaw and Carlene Laslett, everyone dressed in some form of pink and given a bag of pink lollies, finishing with a scrumptious afternoon tea supplied by Jenny Johnson, Johanna Gogan and Beryl Mahoney after lunch and presentations all adding to a great day for a great cause.<\/p>\n
Many sponsors included The Gambier Hotel, Annette White Flowers, Oatmill Cinema, Rosemary Martland, Bev Pascoe and Karen Panagopoulos.<\/p>\n
The winners were team Bernadette Pedlar\/Lynette Hirth 66 points, runner up team Helen Stratford\/Dianne Allen and third team Helen Myers\/Johanna Gogan 64 points.<\/p>\n
Karen Panagopoulos scored a birdie from a chip-in ferret on the 16th and others to have chip-in ferrets were Lynette Hirth 4th and Bev Pascoe 18th.<\/p>\n
Shortest drive prize went to Gogan 1st and nearest to the \u2018grass boob\u2019 on the 9th was Gael Ford. Helen Stratford won the best dressed prize.<\/p>\n
