{"id":16325,"date":"2025-10-24T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-23T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=16325"},"modified":"2025-10-23T15:04:29","modified_gmt":"2025-10-23T04:04:29","slug":"family-favourites-new-attractions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/living\/family-favourites-new-attractions\/","title":{"rendered":"Family favourites &amp; new attractions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ESTABLISHED in 1876, the Millicent Show is one of the few remaining three day country shows and the 2025 event looms as another entertaining event with a jam packed program.<\/p>\n<p>Running from November 7-9, the Millicent Show has always blended the beloved traditions of a country show, while adding new entertainment and attractions to capture a new generation of showgoers.<\/p>\n<p>Friday\u2019s program, which kicks off at 12noon, leaves no doubt this is a time honoured country show.<\/p>\n<p>The trade exhibits and indoor displays are all ready for showgoers to check out, while the animal nursery looms as the prime attraction for families.<\/p>\n<p>The Indoor Hall hosts all the popular show competitions including art, handicrafts, cut flowers, photography, fresh produce, woodwork and wool.<\/p>\n<p>And then there is the cooking competitions headlined by the popular Blokes Chocolate Cake category, introduced in recent years, and growing in popularity every year.<\/p>\n<p>There are more new cooking categories for the 2025 show as well, with a Morning Tea Tray competition and Little Miss Orange Cake.<\/p>\n<p>Friday also sees the Speed Shear competition with registrations for then limited places from 4pm with the competition heating up from 6pm in open, senior, intermediate, novice and novelty events.<\/p>\n<p>The motocross track will also be hosting another crowd pleasing event from 6.30pm \u2013 the Lawn Mower Exhibition Racing.<\/p>\n<p>And it wouldn\u2019t be Friday night at the Millicent Show if it didn\u2019t end with a bang \u2013 the spectacular fireworks show at 9pm.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday is promoted as a Family Fun Day and again the program has plenty to see and do.<\/p>\n<p>For the early risers, you can take in the skills of the Yard Dog Championships from 7.30am and the showcase of rural life continues all day, not just with the Yard Dog events but the cattle and poultry judging and the 3.15pm Grand Parade.<\/p>\n<p>The Lawn Mower racing returns while traditional wood chopping also takes centre stage with the South East Axemen showcasing old style wood chopping \u2013 not a chainsaw in sight.<\/p>\n<p>The Young Farmers Challenge will also be a highlight of Saturday\u2019s program, as teams of four, over the age of 18, go head-to-head from 1pm.<\/p>\n<p>The kids will be lining up for the face painting, while Smokey the CFS Koala Mascot will be on site, as will Roving Bluey.<\/p>\n<p>For car lovers, the \u2018Beauty in the Beasts\u2019 Car &amp; Stationary Engine Display will be a highlight, as will the live musical entertainment including Jason and Christy Wallace.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday is all about Horses in Action with a program kicking off at 9am.<\/p>\n<p>For those looking to be part of the Indoor Hall competitions you need to have placed your entries by 4.30pm on October 31.<\/p>\n<p>Head to <a href=\"https:\/\/millicentshow.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/millicentshow.com<\/a> for more information<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>\/\/SPONSORED CONTENT<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ESTABLISHED in 1876, the Millicent Show is one of the few remaining three day country shows and the 2025 event looms as another entertaining event with a jam packed program.
