{"id":16468,"date":"2025-11-09T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-08T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=16468"},"modified":"2025-11-05T21:34:38","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T10:34:38","slug":"sculpture-turned-into-plush-toy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/news\/sculpture-turned-into-plush-toy\/","title":{"rendered":"Sculpture turned into plush toy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MOUNT GAMBIER locals and visitors can now take home their very own unique piece of the city with the arrival of the Cast in Blue plush toys.<\/p>\n<p>The soft toys are now available for purchase exclusively at the Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre for $34.95, with plans to stock the Visitor Information Centre locations in the near future.<\/p>\n<p>Cast in Blue artists Mitch Walker and Tom Proctor said they were really happy with how the new Cast in Blue plushies have turned out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe think they capture his character perfectly and are a great way for people to have their very own Blue Blob to take home for a hug,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n<p>Director Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre and Cultural Development Ashleigh Whatling said the Cast in Blue merchandise celebrates how public art can create shared moments and spark conversation within the community &#8211; whether through the sculpture in the city centre, or a small keepsake that reminds people of their visit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re delighted to see such strong interest in the plushies. There has been a lot of demand since the sculpture\u2019s installation earlier this year and it\u2019s wonderful to now have something tangible that people can take home &#8211; just in time for Christmas,\u201d Ms Whatling said.<\/p>\n<p>The Cast in Blue plush toys will be available alongside other items that will be arriving soon including air fresheners, postcards, bumper stickers and key rings.<\/p>\n<p>For updates on merchandise, residents and visitors can sign up to The Riddoch mailing list and follow <a href=\"http:\/\/@TheRiddoch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@TheRiddoch<\/a> on socials.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MOUNT GAMBIER locals and visitors can now take home their very own unique piece of the city with the arrival of the Cast in Blue plush toys.
