THE Stand Like Stone Foundation and Bunge (formerly Viterra) are proud to celebrate the successful completion of the first work placement delivered through the Poppy Crozier Memorial Scholarship \u2014 a program created to honour the life, passion and potential of young Tatiara local Poppy Crozier.<\/p>\n

The scholarship was established by the Crozier family after Poppy tragically passed away in a road accident in 2023. Poppy was studying Agricultural Science and was deeply committed to a future in agriculture. In the two years since her accident, the fund created in her name has grown to more than $117,000, thanks to generous support from donors across Australia.<\/p>\n

This year, the scholarship made its first impact through local student Charlie Hannemann, who has been completing paid work placement with Bunge alongside his university studies \u2014 gaining hands-on experience in the agricultural supply chain while helping carry Poppy\u2019s legacy forward.<\/p>\n

Charlie describes the experience as transformative.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a really different experience for me \u2014 I\u2019ve been delivering grain from our family farm to Bunge for as long as I can remember, but working inside the business has shown me aspects of agriculture beyond the farm gate,\u201d Charlie said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve learnt about food quality, safety and the chain of responsibility requirements that shape the industry. I\u2019ve also gained insights into grain merchandising and trading and I\u2019ve had the chance to assist with grain selling contracts.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone has been incredibly friendly and professional and this experience has given me confidence and valuable office skills to promote myself more broadly once I finish my degree.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bunge\u2019s HRBP senior manager Alyson Gilbey said the partnership reflects the company\u2019s commitment to investing in regional talent.<\/p>\n

\u201cCharlie\u2019s experience reflects the spirit of the scholarship and the legacy of Poppy Crozier,\u201d Alyson said. \u201cWe\u2019re honoured to be part of this initiative and look forward to expanding the industry placement component in future years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlie also shares a deeply personal connection to the scholarship\u2019s namesake. He and Poppy grew up together in the Tatiara, attended kindy and school side-by-side, and later enrolled in the same degree \u2013 a Bachelor of Agricultural Studies at the University of Adelaide.<\/p>\n

Stand Like Stone chair Georgie McKay said the scholarship represents both tribute and opportunity.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis partnership with Bunge provides a powerful pathway for students to gain practical experience and build careers in agriculture,\u201d FGeorgie said. \u201cWe\u2019re proud to see Charlie thrive and honoured to support Poppy\u2019s legacy through this scholarship.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt feels especially fitting that the inaugural scholarship was awarded to one of Poppy\u2019s lifelong friends and we now look forward to reviewing the next round of applicants and offering this unique opportunity to another Limestone Coast student.\u201d<\/p>\n

Students with a passion for agriculture are encouraged to apply for the Poppy Crozier Memorial Scholarship through the Stand Like Stone Foundation. Applications for the 2026 scholarship round closes at 5pm on Friday, November 15.<\/p>\n

Poppy\u2019s parents Charlie and Asha Crozier are proud of community support for the scholarship and seeing it make a difference.<\/p>\n

\u201cPoppy adored her connection to home and agriculture and the opportunities it brings,\u201d they said in a family statement. \u201cIt would mean so much to her to see Charlie continuing the same path she was excited about.\u201d<\/p>\n
