MULTI-MILLION best-selling author Heather Morris will return to Mount Gambier for the launch of her latest novel The Wish on Tuesday 25 November at 7pm at City Hall.<\/p>\n
City of Mount Gambier community development coordinator Kristi Brooks said Heather Morris rose to fame with her first book The Tattooist of Auschwitz, based on the real-life story of Holocaust survivor Lale Sokolov.<\/p>\n
Her event in Mount Gambier in 2018 was a sell out with over 220 people in attendance.<\/p>\n
Her further titles Cilka\u2019s Journey, Three Sisters and Sisters Under the Rising Sun all based on the lives of remarkable, real people went on to be global best-sellers. In 2024 Heather celebrated the long await of The Tattooist of Auschwitz coming to life on TV in the Stan Original Series.<\/p>\n
The Wish is Heather\u2019s first contemporary novel and is inspired by her work in the social work department at Monash Medical Centre where she worked for over 20 years.<\/p>\n
During this time, Heather grew close to patients and their families as they navigated chronic illness, terminal disease, and tragic and traumatic events.<\/p>\n
Some patients she knew only briefly, some she got to know over many years of treatment.<\/p>\n
The Wish is inspired by many of the patients and families that she laughed and cried with and is a tribute to social workers everywhere.<\/p>\n
The story follows Jesse, a terminally ill teenager, who has a vision of collating a timeline of her life of all the happy moments, for her family and friends to enjoy, just in case she isn\u2019t.<\/p>\n
Jesse enlists in the help of Alex, a talented but isolated visionary games designer to fulfil her wish. Inspired again by real people, and one child in particular, this is a heartfelt story of unexpected friendship, of courage, resilience and of finding hope in the darkest places.<\/p>\n
