Mixed Media artist Jane McCumstie is opening her evocative multi-sensory exhibition, The Awe and Wonder of the Ordinary, at Little Blue Wren, this Saturday at 4pm.<\/p>\n
The Awe and Wonder of the Ordinary is an invitation for the viewer to reacquaint themselves with the beauty of the ordinary in our everyday lives; and an opportunity to explore the oft overlooked details in the seemingly mundane, through innovative and strikingly beautiful works of art.<\/p>\n
Having lived for some time in the Blue Mountains, and now calling the Limestone Coast home, Jane draws much inspiration from the environment around her, as well as music, the sounds of nature, and the beauty of the written word.<\/p>\n
This exhibition will reflect feelings, and moments captured in time, which are brought to life by incorporating small details that open up new worlds to the viewer, inviting people to pause, lean in and take a closer look.<\/p>\n
Gallery owner Gareth Williams Ipictured right with wife Tabitha) said Jane\u2019s work is richly saturated with colours, textures and patterns to transport the viewer to other realms.<\/p>\n
\u2018The Awe and Wonder of the Ordinary\u2019 will be a multi-sensory event, including sound scapes, written word and aromas to accompany more than thirty pieces of mixed media art, arousing sensory moments of awareness with poetic emotion. \u201cI would like the viewer to soak up the works, take in soundscapes and scents and be transported by them,\u201d Jane said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis exhibition sees Jane using her art to challenge us,\u201d Gareth said.\u201dJane is encouraging us to immerse ourselves in her paintings, to manipulate our thoughts toward finding the deeper meaning behind the work by engaging with our inner conscience to interpret the painting through the eyes of the artist.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a truly unique experience and a gift that Jane offers to us as she journeys us into her world through her canvases.\u201d<\/p>\n
This exhibition is an optimistic push into finding value in the oft overlooked, and an invitation from Jane to explore the mundane with her.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe aim of this exhibition is for the viewer to witness the awe, wonder, and beauty found in the everyday details of life, for it is within these hidden and mundane places that true beauty is often found,\u201d Jane said.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy inspiration as an artist comes from several sources including music, the sounds of nature, and the beauty of the written word.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe work emanates from feelings, trying to capture moments in time with texture and layers. I aim to bring these feelings to life by incorporating small details that open up new worlds for those viewing my work.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy hope as an artist is for at least one of the works in the exhibition to make someone\u2019s heart sing so that they may experience awe and wonder and be transported to another place.\u201d.<\/p>\n
