PORT MacDonnell & District Bowling Club held its 17th Annual Invitation Men\u2019s Fours Two Day Carnival thanks to major sponsors Grant District Council, All Digital Hearing and Bendigo Bank.<\/p>\n
President Terry Seiler welcomed players from Toorak Burnside, Beaumont, Somerton, Geelong East, St Leonards, Belmont, Nhill, Portland Memorial, Portland, Hamilton, Renmark, Berri, Mundulla, Kingston, Beachport, Millicent, Naracoorte, Robe, Mount Gambier, Mount Gambier RSL and the host club.<\/p>\n
Play commenced at 9am in cool and overcast conditions with 24 teams playing 21 ends before lunch and 21 in the afternoon.<\/p>\n
At the end of play on the first day there were eight two game winners – Gary Feast Mt Gambier RSL, Luke Pietersma Somerton, David Beaman Port MacDonnell\/Mt Gambier RSL, Peter Graham Hamilton\/Mt Gambier, Gary Bowering Mt Gambier RSL, Trevor Feast Toorak Burnside\/Beaumont, Ian Williams Naracoorte and Robert Corner Mt Gambier RSL.<\/p>\n
It was the same format for the second day with an 8.30am start.<\/p>\n
At 11am \u2018Echoes of Remembrance over the Bowling Green\u2019 with President Terry reading out the ode and Bill Richards playing the Last Post on his bugle followed by a minutes silence then the Riese and the raising of the flag.<\/p>\n

The overall winners for the two days was the team from Mt Gambier RSL skippered by Gary Feast with Ralph Stafford, Ron Ploenges and John Schroder with four wins and 178 points<\/p>\n
Second was a team skippered by Luke Pietersma from Somerton, with Jim Barr Somerton, Marcus Pietersma Port MacDonnell and Glynn Sampson Somerton with four wins and 173 points.<\/p>\n
Third went to Dave Beaman Port MacDonnell, Gary Walters Mt Gambier RSL and John Naismith and Bruce Bavin from Port MacDonnell with four wins and 167 points.<\/p>\n
Fourth place went to the Mt Gambier RSL team of Gary Bowering skip, Wayne Legutko, Leon Fox and Alan Stewart with three wins and 140 points.<\/p>\n
Fifth place was another team from Mt Gambier RSL in Robert Corner skip, Andy Ashby, Graham Ellis and Brenton Wittwer with three wins 139 points.<\/p>\n
