THE Mount Gambier Community Mayor\u2019s Christmas Appeal has currently raised more than $30,000 thanks to the generosity of local donors, with five windows of the Old Town Hall lit up to celebrate the progress so far.<\/p>\n
City of Mount Gambier Mayor Lynette Martin urged the community to keep the momentum going.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery dollar donated helps provide food hampers, gift vouchers and presents for families who are struggling,\u201d Mayor Martin said. \u201cWhen we give, we\u2019re not just lighting up a window, we\u2019re lighting up lives.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet\u2019s keep going and show what Mount Gambier can achieve when we come together.\u201d<\/p>\n
Demand for assistance continues to rise as the cost-of-living places greater pressure on households.<\/p>\n
Donations go directly to local agencies Uniting Care, ac.care, St Vincent de Paul and The Salvation Army, with all funds raised distributed through the Christmas Cheer Program.<\/p>\n
\u201cThank you to everyone who has already contributed. Your kindness is making a real difference,\u201d Mayor Martin said. \u201cIf you haven\u2019t donated yet, now is the perfect time. Every act of generosity counts.\u201d<\/p>\n
The appeal has recently been granted Deductible Gift Recipient status, meaning donations of $2 or more are tax deductible, making it easier than ever to help.<\/p>\n
