{"id":17273,"date":"2025-12-31T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-12-30T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=17273"},"modified":"2025-12-19T11:18:52","modified_gmt":"2025-12-19T00:18:52","slug":"swapping-paintbrushes-for-a-microphone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/news\/swapping-paintbrushes-for-a-microphone\/","title":{"rendered":"Swapping paintbrushes for a microphone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HOLDFAST Limestone Coast Inc. aims to increase community awareness and education at a local level, of the importance of algae (seaweed) on the Port MacDonnell (Ngaranga) coastline in the South East of South Australia.<\/p>\n<p>The collective has so often spread the message via their artistic pursuits and now they have branched out into the world of podcasting with the launch of a six-part Seaweed Connection Podcast highlighting, among a range of topics, the diverse role and the value algae plays in our marine ecology and community.<\/p>\n<p>The podcast series was produced by Tim Stent and made possible thanks to a Stand Like Stone Foundation grant.<\/p>\n<p>Holdfast Limestone Coast Inc founding member Sally O\u2019Connor was encouraging locals and visitors alike to tune in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe would like to encourage people to tune in to our podcasts during their travels over the festive period,\u201d Sally said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SEAWEED CONNECTION PODCASTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Meet the Researchers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Join the Limestone Coast Youth Environment Council (LC-YEC) panel for a discussion with women working in the fascinating field of marine science. Discover their research on Little Penguins, seaweed, and seagrasses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Travelling the Kelp Highway<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Join Helen Mavoa, PhD anthropologist, photo-artist, writer, and kelp enthusiast, for an inspiring talk exploring the ecological, cultural, and artistic significance of kelp. This presentation highlights kelp&#8217;s history, future, and the efforts to protect this vital resource.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Holdfast Limestone Coast Inc<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Join Sally O&#8217;Connor and Jo Fife for a discussion on the development of Holdfast Limestone Coast Inc.
