THE Limestone Coast Landscape Board, in collaboration with Burrandies Aboriginal Corporation, presented Walking the Seasons for the community last year and a series of seasonal community walking events celebrating connection to Country and cultural knowledge are scheduled to continue this year.<\/p>\n

Designed to be inclusive and accessible, the seasonal walks are a great way for community members of all ages and abilities to come together for guided walks aligned with the changing seasons.<\/p>\n

Each walk offers an opportunity to connect with nature, deepen cultural understanding of the local landscape and learn about the First Nations seasonal calendar.<\/p>\n

Since its launch to the Limestone Coast community in 2025, Walking the Seasons has attracted participants from a range of diverse backgrounds, fostering a strong sense of belonging and encouraging people to experience familiar landscapes in new ways.<\/p>\n

Limestone Coast Landscape Board educator Mel Holtz said Walking the Seasons provides a space for a deeper connection to our local landscape, often creating a meaningful experience through shared cultural learning and activities.<\/p>\n

Building on the success of the previous community walks, Walking the Seasons will return this year with the first walk on Tuesday, January 20, at Penambol Conservation Park for Shell and Wattle Seed time with special guest Bryan Haywood, Senior Ecologist from Nature Glenelg Trust presenting with Uncle Doug Nicholls from Burrandies Aboriginal Corporation.<\/p>\n
