HOLDFAST Limestone Coast Incorporated is \u2018Walking the Seasons\u2019 along Beachport\u2019s coastline with Burrandies Aboriginal Corporation and the Limestone Coast Landscape Board.<\/p>\n

A walk is planned for each of the six seasons in 2026, starting on January 21 at a location to be confirmed.<\/p>\n

This project is supported by the Friends of Parks & Nature Grants and is jointly funded by Holdfast Limestone Coast Inc. and the Department for Environment and Water.<\/p>\n

The \u2018Friends of Seaweed\u2019 group aim to improve the community\u2019s awareness of the diversity and importance of smelly old seaweed on the Limestone Coast.<\/p>\n

Holdfast Limestone Coast Incorporated hopes that by walking with First Nations, local ecologists, fauna and flora experts, volunteers, and community members, we will develop a better understanding of how seasonal patterns impact ocean algae and help shape and sustain life on our shoreline, further exploring what this means for other species including resident and migratory shore birds.<\/p>\n

Friends of Parks and Nature has also funded a Walking the Seasons calendar sign which will be displayed at the data collection site after the six seasonal walks are complete. This will serve as a way for community and visitors in the region to better engage with and understand First Nations connections with the landscape.<\/p>\n

It will also be an opportunity for visitors to develop a deeper relationship with our unique coastal environment.<\/p>\n

The project will no doubt showcase how everything in the landscape was and is connected.<\/p>\n

If you are interested in participating in the first Walking the Seasons with Holdfast in Beachport this year on Wednesday, January 21, from 9am to 11am please contact seaweed@holdfastlimestonecoast.com<\/a><\/p>\n
