{"id":17514,"date":"2026-01-20T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-19T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=17514"},"modified":"2026-01-14T16:15:36","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T05:15:36","slug":"stacked-field-locked-in-for-sprintcar-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/sport\/stacked-field-locked-in-for-sprintcar-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Stacked field locked in for sprintcar challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE stage is set for the 32nd running of the Borderline Speedway\u2019s King\u2019s Challenge \u2013 the Mount Gambier club\u2019s premier stand alone event and the field is littered with stars of the sprintcar circuit from Australia, New Zealand and the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Reigning King\u2019s Challenge champion James McFaddenn, who has won three of the past four runnings of the event headlines the field \u2013 the Aussie number one almost considered a local given his family connections to the region and his frequent visits.<\/p>\n<p>And on the local front, there is plenty of cheer for with Parker Scott, Scott Enderl and Glen Sutherland set to fly the flag for Mount Gambier, with Daniel Pestka continuing his long term local partnership, driving the Stark car.<\/p>\n<p>The US contingent headed to the Glenburnie track sits at nine drivers including Buddy Kofoid, brothers Carson Macedo and Cole Macedo, TJ Stutts, Aaron Reutzel, Tim Kaeding and Ryan Timms, who is one driver making huis Borderline debut.<\/p>\n<p>Justin Whittall, a winner at Knoxville last year, is another of the US drivers, while rising star and a new name to Borderline officials, Hunter Schuerenberg rounds out the nine strong group.<\/p>\n<p>Max Guilford comes from across the ditch, the New Zealand driver a regular at the Glenburnie track and there is also a strong contingent of WA-based cars, including Callum Williamson, Dayne Kingshott and Andrew Priolo.<\/p>\n<p>McFadden is also not the only driver who has claimed the number one plate taking to Thursday\u2019s field with Lachlan McHugh, Jack Goodyer and Kerry Madsen all vying for the King\u2019s Challenge title.<\/p>\n<p>Brock Hallett is another driver to watch when the sprintcars hit the track, the Queenslander coming into the contest with a number of feature wins under his belt, with Randy Morgan also in the mix.<\/p>\n<p>President Cary Jennings said an excellent field had been assembled for the 2026 event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have that great mix of top drivers as well as plenty of the young ones just starting to come through,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>OGR and Stuckey Electrical are the major sponsors of the event with gates opening at 3pm and racing from 5pm.<\/p>\n<p>Pre-purchase your tickets now at <a href=\"https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/yses3prc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/yses3prc<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE stage is set for the 32nd running of the Borderline Speedway\u2019s King\u2019s Challenge \u2013 the Mount Gambier club\u2019s premier stand alone event and the field is littered with stars of the sprintcar circuit from Australia, New Zealand and the United States.
