{"id":1767,"date":"2023-04-01T05:01:47","date_gmt":"2023-04-01T05:01:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=1767"},"modified":"2023-11-03T09:29:59","modified_gmt":"2023-11-03T09:29:59","slug":"building-a-strong-school-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/living\/building-a-strong-school-community\/","title":{"rendered":"Building a strong school community"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>St Martins Lutheran College senior students welcome the school\u2019s newest arrivals<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs St Martins has continued to grow it is important to us to keep a strong connection between our students right across the college.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those were the words of St Martins Lutheran College head of junior school wellbeing Robyn Teakle as the college\u2019s Year 12 cohort buddied up with new reception students at the start of the 2023 school year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAbout four years ago, our then chaplain initiated this beautiful ceremony where we acknowledge the reception students who are at the beginning of their school journey, and the Year 12 students who are nearing the end,\u201d Mrs Teakle said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the ceremony there is a blessing over both Reception and Year 12 students as the older students greet, chat and share with the younger ones and in doing so place a specially designed bag tag on their backpack.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c It was wonderful to have parents along to share in the ceremony and chat with their young ones and their new buddy. Throughout the year, the two year levels will have the opportunity to share more special moments together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on behalf of the older students, college captain Alex Laube said the ceremony was special for all the students involved. \u201cThe Blessing of the Backpacks is a special event for the Year 12\u2019s as it is the \u201cold\u201d welcoming the \u201cnew\u201d and a great way to symbolise the start of their St Martins journey,\u201d Alex said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PHOTOS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.
