NARACOORTE Lucindale Council will formally advocate for the community on local fuel pricing.<\/p>\n

At the January monthly meeting, Council resolved to:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Write to Naracoorte-based fuel companies seeking information on continually higher prices at local fuel outlets compared to other sites across the Limestone Coast and State;<\/p>\n

Write to the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission expressing concern about the high fuel prices locally, with responses to be provided to the community.<\/p>\n

Mayor Patrick Ross said Council unanimously supported the motion from Cr Craig McGuire to advocate for the community on fuel pricing.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouncil\u2019s decision supports community concerns that have been raised with Elected Members and also voiced on social media in recent times,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouncil recognises the impact that current cost-of-living pressures are having on our community members and is committed to advocating to alleviate these burdens.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mayor Ross said Council was also concerned that sustained high fuel prices were influencing residents to shop or access services outside of Naracoorte, resulting in reduced economic activity for local businesses.<\/p>\n
